Araldi, Alessandro
Alessandro Araldi ( Parma , to 1460 - Parma, 1528 ) was an Italian painter, one of the most important teachers active in Parma before the onset of Correggio . . There is no news of his artistic training, though his early works (fresh from the Duomo of Parma with the Virgin and Child, San Jose and donor , dated 1496) is obviously related to the style of Mantegna and Venetian artists in general, although the major artists of his contemporaries parmesan ( Filippo Mazzola , father of Parmigianino , and Cristoforo Caselli ) formed in the environment Belliniano. From 1500 he worked mainly for the Benedictine monastery of San Paolo, made the frescoes of the choir of the abbey church (lost) and after a likely trip to Rome (c. 1510), the decoration of the Chapel of St. Catherine of Alexandria and some rooms of the apartment of the abbess (1514) in which shows the influence of Pinturicchio , Francesco Francia and Lorenzo Costa the Elder. He tried to imitate the style of Leonardo (in 1516 made a copy of the Last Supper). His influence is evident in the altar table made for the Centoni Chapel in the Cathedral of Parma (1516). Had relationships with famous people of his era such as Lodovico Gonzaga , Marquis of Mantua, and Bartolomeo Zucchi Aristotile Roxeto.. In 1503 as his wife gave their daughter Porzioli Filippo fifteen years Orselina. . In 1514 he received six gold ducats and nine imperial salaries by conducting a Cristoforo cuadropara Torelli. In 1516 he painted for the church table Casalmaggiore signed and dated in San Roque between San Sebastian and San Pablo Hermit.
