Argyros, Oumbertos
Oumbertos Argyros (Greek * 1877 , 1882 or 1884 in Kavala , † May 12 1963 in Athens , or even) was a Greek painter of Impressionism. Argyros was born in Kavala, his parents came from the city Nigrita in Serres.. He studied painting at the Academy of Athens. . He was a disciple of Nikiforos Lytras . He graduated in 1904 with the highest rating. In 1929 he became a full professor of the Academy of Fine Arts in Athens . He was also once vice-director and three-time director of the School of Art. In his studio later learned some of the great artists of Greece, such as the painters Photis Zachariou, Georgios Manousakis, Yannis Moralis , Yiannis Spyropoulos, the engraver Telemachus Kanthos , the sculptor Christos Kapralos Others In his paintings, Argyros took part in exhibition in the world. His works are now found in many public galleries. Argyros held some time in Heidelberg. During his stay in Heidelberg was the impressionist painting "View of Heidelberg". During the Second World War he was commissioned by the then Greek government Metaxas commissioned as an official war artist to the Greek-Italian front to go. His impressions on the front created 32 paintings.. This can be seen today at the Military Museum of Athens. In 1959 he became a permanent member of the Academy of Athens called. Er starb vier Jahre später (1963) in Athen. He died four years later (1963) in Athens. Argyros was a student of Nikiforos Lytras first a painter of the so-called Munich School, but he later painted in the style of Impressionism.
