Edgar Degas, a veteran French painter and he is also famous for print making, drawings, sculptures and draftsmanship. His style is said to be in line with art impressionism although he claimed during his lifetime as realistic movement. Most of his artworks were of inclined towards capturing dancers’ movements and their complex postures. He is now viewed as one of the initiators of art impressionism.
Hilaire Germain Edgar De Gas, popularly known as Edgar Degas was born on 19th July 1834 at Paris, France. His parents were Augustin De Gas, a banker and Célestine Musson De Gas. Edgar had his schoolings begun at his age of 11 in a school named “Lycee Louis le Grand”. In the next 2 years, he lost his mother and he was so depressed due to that incident. His father and grandpa had freed him from those sorrows and made him concentrate on his studies and artwork. He finished his graduation at 1853 and by that time he became matured artist. In-fact he got himself enrolled in the famous Louvre Museum to make a copy of paintings from those that were exhibited in the Museum. In April 1855, Edgar got admission to learn drawing in the famous Ecole des Beaux-Arts. Then he moved back to Paris by 1859 where he flourished as a full-fledged artist by carrying out numerous paintings.
